Instructions

  • Start assembling the board by laying down the cheeses. Aim to include at least 3 different kinds.
  • Next, add the meats.
  • Continue filling the board with the spreads and dips, either in ramekins or directly on the board.
  • Add crackers & dippers such as pretzel sticks, vegetables, etc. to the board.
  • Finish off the board with your fruits & fillers, using them to reinforce any empty spaces on the board.
  • You can quickly & easily make a mummie brie by lightly drawing mummy wrappings across the top of a wheel of brie, then topping with candy eyeballs and a candy mouth.

Notes

  • Include seasonal items: Try to capture the essence and the flavors of fall/Halloween!
  • Use the rule of 3: Try to have at least 3 of everything – 3 different cheeses, 3 different types of meat, etc. and try to include a variety of flavors and textures.
  • Know your guests: Do any of your guests have dietary restrictions? Consider including gluten-free or dairy-free options so there’s something for everyone!
  • Include candy and sweets: Make sure you include some candies, cookies, and sweet treats. This is a Halloween charcuterie board, after all!
  • Use props: You may have props lying around the house that could add a bit of personality to your board such as Halloween decorations, cute cheese knives or honey sticks, or even mini pumpkins, acorns, pinecones, and autumn leaves (washed, of course).
  • Think about color: Use things that capture the colors of autumn such as orange, red, black, white, and muted greens. It can be as simple as adding white chocolate chips, apricots, red grapes, blackberries, green olives, etc.
  • Don’t forget to garnish: You can use herbs like thyme, mint, rosemary, etc. to add a bit of sophistication to your board.
